The following is a press release sent by the Hilal Advisory Team of CoEJ:
Marhoom Ayatullah Al Khoi (RA)
Based on the ruling of unity of horizons, and sharing of the night, there is a distinct possibility of sighting the crescent in South America and areas westwards on 10th August 2010. Europe shares the night with these regions.
Hilal Advisory Team has achieved itmi’naan over many years on astronomical calculations that meet a certain criteria. The crescent for Ramadhan 1431 is positioned well above the criteria in many regions mentioned above.
Please see below relevant ruling of Marhoom Ayatullah Al Khoi
“1741. The first date of a month is not proved by the prediction of the astronomers. However, if a person believes in what they say or is satisfied with it, he should act according to their statement.”
Based on above 1st Ramdhan 1431 begins on Wednesday 11th August 2010 for followers of Marhoom Ayatullah Al Khoi (RA). We have also received news of confirmed sighting from Shia Islamic Community of Bolivia at 3:30 AM that the crescent has been sighted in La Paz, Bolivia.

Aims & Objectives:
YDD enters its 3rd year and with the blessings of the Almighty, is moving from strength to strength. It is however important that the aims and objectives of YDD are made transparent for all so that we can work together for the betterment of our children and youth.
YDD has been set up to act as a “refresher programme” for our youngsters particularly in the recitation of Dua’s commonly recited during the Holy Month of Ramadhan. The emphasis is to polish, brush-up and enhance the level of recitation of Dua’s.
Entry Criteria:
To allow YDD to meet its objective, it is important that those attending are able to recite “big” Qur’an fluently. (For those children attending SIM, this is equivalent to Intermediate Level or higher.)
Your child may be required to be pre-screened upon registration to ensure they meet the above criteria.
We appreciate that there may be children who fall short of the above requirement, but at this stage, due to limited resources at our disposal, we can only accept children who demonstrate the above criteria.
As far as age criteria goes, provided the above criteria is first met, we will accept children between the ages 4 to 16 boys and 4 to 13 girls.
Dua classes:
YDD will cater for recitation of the following Dua’s: 3 Short Dua’s (recited after Maghrib/Eisha Salaat); Dua Iftetah and Dua Jawshan Kabeer.
Dates:
Registration and pre-screening will be held on Thursday 27th May 2010 at 8pm and Thursday 3rd June 2010. Formal classes will commence on Thursday 3rd June 2010 and run every Thursday until 5th August 2010 with the exception of Thursday 8th July 2010.
Main Hall / ELC allocation:
A child wishing to recite one of the 3 Dua’s taught within YDD will need to be screened by the YDD teachers before their name is submitted to the Mukhi sub-committee for allocation. (This applies to both boys and girls)

10 years ago, the community lost a father figure, someone who had dedicated his life to raising our Khoja community to heights. With his departure, our community worldwide lost a leader, a scholar, a worker who had shaped the future of our community. Today, we are reaping the fruits of all his efforts in settling the various European Communities.
Whilst he was a figure known throughout the world, the KSIMC of London is proud to have been associated with such a personality.
The KSIMC of London, Stanmore, owes its existence to this far sighted personality and, on the 10th Anniversary of his departure from this world, we are honoured to hold a memorial day.
The Mulla Asghar Memorial Day will be held on Monday 31st May and the programme will start in Stanmore centre with Dhuhrayn Namaz and finish at around 3pm with lunch.
We would appreciate if you can honour us with your presence at this function.
The programme will be open to all, ladies and gents.
Salaams and Dua's
