HUNAYN-Took place 630AD, the second one of two battles that are mentioned specifically in the Holy Quran. This was the battle where only  8 companions stayed to defend the Holy Prophet (SAW) and Islam.

Hujjat ELC 10 Year Anniversary

ELC_10_year_logoEarlier this year, the Hujjat English Listening Centre (ELC) marked 10 years of serving the community. The ELC work, at hujjat, to provide an English service that runs in parallel to the Urdu program in the main hall. The ELC was born out of the successful programmes for boys in the Annex building and moved to its home of the first floor in June 1999 (Ashra-e-Zainabiyya 1419). It has seen a raft of world renowned speakers, reciters and lecturers, and has been an opportunity for home-grown english Aalims and reciters as well.

Inshallah the ELC will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary on SATURDAY 19 SEPTEMBER 2009 in the main hall, where the guest speaker will inshallah be Sayed Mahdi Modarresi. This will be Sayed’s only english lecture during this holy month and is an excellent opportunity to listen to this great Aalim. In addition to this there will also be English qasidas by our very own, home grown, Voices of Passion and much more. The ELC extends an invitation to all community members to join in the celebrations.

4 types of people as described by Ayatullah Muttaheri (Ra).

1.The person who neither attracts anyone nor repels anyone. They have no real following and no enemies. They are like sheep.

2.The person who attracts people but repels no one. This type of person has no enemies and makes everyone happy. These people will generally be two faced and will moderate their character depending on who they are with.

3.The person who repels everyone and attracts no one. This is the worst type of individual.

4.The person who attracts people and yet also repels people. They tread a set path and their stance encourages both agreement and disagreement amongst the people.

Imam Ali (AS) belonged to the 4th Category.

We truly love Imam Ali (AS) because of what he stood for and upheld, namely the true message of Islam and Rasullullah (SAW) and that he was a perfect embodiment of the Siraatal Mustaqeem (Straight path).
