The Holy Prophet (saw) stated: “the best ones from amongst you are those who learn the Quran and teach it (to others)” (Aamali of Shaykh Tusi (80/740)
Learning the Holy Quran:
1. Importance of learning the science of tajweed in order to improve our recitations
2. Taking time to study the divine book through tafseer (commentary)
It is through the tafseer we are able to deduce guidance from the Holy Book and then use it as means through which we shape our lifestyles
3. Nurturing our perceptions and belief system based on the teachings of the Quran
4. Importance of understanding the Holy Quran in light of the Hadith of Ahlul Bayt (s) is vital to ensure we do not misinterpret the Holy Book – which has been the reason for many people going astray.
Teaching the Quran:
Establishing simple 30 minute Quran circles at home – once a week for the entire family to get together and discuss a certain verse/Surah of the Holy Quran – such acts of worship bring barakah in the home, strengthen family ties between spouses, parents & children and gives rise to a spiritual & knowledge based culture within the home.
