The Jamaat is pleased to welcome Shaykh Jaffer Ladak to the centre as our new Resident ‘Alim.

Sheikh Jaffer was born and raised in Milton Keynes, UK. After two years in medical recruitment, he opened his own agency in 2005 and was subsequently appointed director of the DRC Group, the second largest agency supplying locum doctors to the NHS in the UK, leaving in 2011. After returning from Hajj in 2005, he began his Islamic studies, speaking in centres around the world and leading Ziyaarat and Hajj groups.

Shaykh has just returned from his time in Karbala, where he studied at Jaami’a Imam as-Sadiq (a) of Ayatollah al-Qazwini and Hawza Imam al-Jawad (a) of Grand Ayatollah Syed Taqi al-Modarresi in holy Kerbala.

He has authored three books, The Hidden Treasure (2011) (a biography of Lady Umm Kulthum), The Ways of The Righteous (2015) (a compilation of stories about the lives of our Ulema), and A Land Most Goodly (a look at the status of Yemen from the time of the Prophet and Imams to the conflict there today). He has various other written works in the pipeline.

He was previously the Resident ‘Alim of Hyderi Islamic Centre, London.

The survey circulated in Arbaeen, which 650 of you responded to, raised some interesting suggestions which Shaykh will attempt to address in the coming months. For example, there was a strong demand for more Tafsir classes, so Shaykh will be starting two weekly sessions in mid January inshAllah: one in the mornings for ladies and young mums, and one in the evenings for the community at large – more details shortly.

Shaykh will also be available at the centre for those who wish to meet him for any issues they may be facing or questions of any nature they may have. There are slots available during the day and on some evenings and weekends. Please email aalim@hujjat.org to arrange [Note that all communication is strictly confidential and only Shaykh himself has access to this mailbox]

We look forward to welcoming Shaykh to our centre and hope that we are able to benefit from his skills and knowledge during his time here!
