Ramadhan Relations – A new initiative

In: Uncategorized

*Ramadhan Relations*

Hujjat Helping Hands, Al-Haadi Youth and Inspirational Minds are honoured to launch an inter-generational initiative bringing together seniors in our community with the youth.

This scheme is a friendship between a Senior (any Lady or Gent 50+ can register) and Youth (Girl or Boy aged 5-18 years) from our community. It is aimed to enhance social interaction between the Seniors and Youth, both benefiting from each other’s virtual companionship during the month of Ramadan.

We hope to see the youth inspired by our community’s seniors, learning from their valuable life experience, teaching their mother tongue, and enhance their character and concept of servitude. While the youth can build companions in our seniors and teach modern day skills e.g. using Zoom to ensure our seniors are well equipped for the 21st century.

*Join the initiative*
If you would like to join the initiative, or believe someone may benefit from Ramadhan Relations, please register your interest by visiting tiny.cc/RamadhanRelations or contact Sonya Moledina on 07736 297 029 or Riyaz Khaku on 07405 609 022.

*How does it work?*

  1. Seniors will be identified by the Seniors Committee (Ladies) and Hujjat Helping Hands (Gents)
  2. Youth will be identified by Al-Haadi Youth
  3. Seniors will be paired with Youth for the duration of Ramadhan, and contact details will be exchanged with a guardian’s oversight.

InshAllah if this initiative is successful, we will aim to roll out other fun and interactive projects bringing the youth and seniors of our community together.

POSTPONEMENT OF AGM AND ELECTIONS DUE TO CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

27 April 2020

Dear Members,

Salaamun Alaykum

I pray this finds you well InshAllah.

In accordance with our Constitution we were expecting to hold our Annual General Meeting (AGM) in June and elections in May this year. However, in light of the coronavirus pandemic and based on current government health guidance, it is increasingly unlikely that these key events can proceed at such time in the manner prescribed by our Constitution.

Following discussion with our external charity lawyers and taking into account guidance provided by the Charity Commission, the EC wishes to inform you of the following decisions with respect to the AGM and elections:

• AGM expected to take place in June is postponed to 1 November 2020
• Elections expected to take place in May are postponed to 18 October 2020

Consequently, the current EC will stay in place until the postponed AGM.

The EC considered various other options prior to reaching the decision to postpone these key events – including holding the AGM and elections through electronic means. However, as it is currently expected that we will not need to postpone these events for more than a few months, and with the aim of keeping to the spirit of our Constitution, the legal advice is that postponement is a better option for our charity at this time.

The EC will revisit the AGM and election decisions (set out above) periodically – taking into account, in particular, current government and Charity Commission guidance. Should it become necessary to alter the arrangements (set out above) we will inform members accordingly.

With Salaams and Duas

Annexe Boys Online Darsa

In: Home Page, Uncategorized

Dear Parents

Salaam Alaykum

We pray our message finds you safe and well. We are going through unprecedented times and the pandemic has naturally caused a significant amount of disruption. The Annexe Team will be missing seeing the kids in Annexe during the whole month of Ramadhan and Inshallah, with your support, we will be trying several online initiatives. We look forward to your support and co operation in this matter.

One such initiative we will be trying is having one to one online Qur’an darsa sessions for boys during the Holy month of Ramadhan.

All those who are interested would be allocated a Qura’an volunteer who will listen to the child on the allocated days and times. We will try our best to accommodate all your preferences and sometimes we might not be able to meet them all.

In order for this to be a success we would urge parents to note the following points before enrolling:

  1. You need to have access to a smart phone as the one to one session will be held on Whats App Video call.
  2. Support of the parents to ensure the child is ready at the agreed allocated time as the volunteers would have multiple allocations.
  3. You will need to supervise the session to ensure the child’s full concentration and safety whilst using the device.
  4. Our request is that you only communicate with the allocated volunteer to provide a picture of the Qura’an page that the child would be reciting.

Please complete the online form – https://forms.gle/sNoeczh4CLrF4WRU6 and note that we will be closing the applications form on Wednesday, 22 April 2020 at 5 p.m. We apologise for the short deadline as the team will require time to the appropriate allocations.

SAFEGUARDING: Parents must ensure they supervise the children during the online session. No personal or sensitive details should be shared.

This learning structure is very new for the Annex Team and we would like to apologise in advance for any teething issues or if the sessions do not run as smoothly as expected. We rely on the support and duas of parents to make this a success. The team is always looking forward to your feedback, both positive and constructive to allow us to give the children a well-rounded experience. You can email your feedback to boysannexe@hujjat.org
