Celebrating the Wiladat of Lady Fatima Zahra (A) Print E-mail

mawled fatima zahra 1431 h by al roomi-d2y5839

Birth

20 Jamadi ul Thani
5 yrs before or after declaration of Prophethood

Titles

Zahra (radiant), Zakiyya (pure, chaste), Radhiyya (satisfied, content), Mardhiyyah (commendable, pleasing), Siddiqa (honest), Tahera (pure, chaste), Batul, Muhaddisa, Umme Abeeha (mother of her father), Ummul Aimma (mother of the 11 Imams)

Death 14 Jamadi ul Awwal 11 AH (according to most traditions)

Ibn ˋAbbas narrates from the Prophet (S) that he stated:

“My daughter Fatima is the foremost of all the women of the world, past and future. She is a portion of me, the light of my eyes, the fruit of my heart and a spirit that resides in my body... Be witness that that I have granted her followers amnesty from the fire of hell.” 1

Her Birth

According to Shaykh al-Kulayni, Fatima Zahra was born 5 years after the appointment of the Prophet to his mission (bi’that)2. Shaykh al-Mufid places her birth at 2 years after the bi’that3, and Shaykh al-Tusi4 has mentioned both dates. Accordingly, she lived for 8 or 11 years in Makka before she migrated to Madina, and according to Ya’qubi, two months after the hijra5, and according to Mas‟udi, in the second year of hijra, the Prophet married her to Ali b. Abu Talib.6

Sunni scholars usually mention that she was born 5 years before the bi‟that, in the year that the Quraysh rebuilt the Ka‟ba. Some of them, like Hakim Nishaburi, have also mentioned that she was born a year after the bi‟that, when the Prophet was 41 years old.7

YDD Classes 2017 Print E-mail
News

YDD has been set up to act as a “refresher programme” for our youngsters particularly in the recitation of Duas commonly recited during the Holy Month of Ramadhan. The emphasis is to polish, brush-up and enhance the level of recitation of Duas.

Entry Criteria:
To allow YDD to meet its objective, it is important that those attending are able to recite “big” Qur’an with some degree of fluency. Your child may be required to be pre-screened upon registration to ensure they meet the above criteria. We appreciate that there may be children who fall short of the above requirement, but at this stage, due to limited resources at our disposal, we can only accept children who demonstrate the above criteria.

As far as age criteria goes, provided the above criteria is first met, we will accept children between the ages 7 to 16

Dua classes:
YDD will cater for recitation of the following Duas: 3 Short Duas (recited after Maghrib/Eisha Salaat) and Dua Iftetah. Please note: there will be no classes for Dua Jawshan Kabeer.

Dates:
Classes will commence on Thursday 9th March 2017 from 8pm to 9pm and run every Thursday night (except when there is a Wiladat/Shahadat falling on a Thursday)

Main Hall / ELC allocation:
A child wishing to recite one of the Duas taught within YDD will need to be screened by the YDD teachers before their name is submitted to the Mukhi sub-committee for allocation. (This applies to both boys and girls)

Hussaini Volunteering Bank (HVB) Print E-mail
Articles

When you drive into the mosque you are directed by a CPV, you sit in the program run by the mukhi whilst downstairs in the Kitchen, chai is being made to be served to you at the end.

What do all these things have in common?

Our identity as a community runs on the foundation of people volunteering their time. Unfortunately this ethos surrounding the institution of volunteering seems to have faded away, especially amongst the younger members. This needs to be revived now more than ever. Why does the largest KSIMC community in Europe struggle to find volunteers?

On the surface it may not seem this way as our programs run seamlessly, children at madressa are taught and in the unfortunate event of a death Ghusl is performed. However, there is a dire need for committed volunteers especially from the younger generation. The issue may not be because people don’t want to volunteer their time, it could be because they have wanted to volunteer but don’t know how to get involved. We have identified that people find it hard to get involved as they may not know who to contact or how to get involved.

What are we doing about this situation?

Hussaini Volunteering Bank(HVB) is an initiative that has been set up for attendees, members, Hujjat and SJ teams to have a medium of communication between the volunteers and teams. HVB has identified crucial areas whilst working with the current SJ and Hujjat teams, where there is a lack of volunteers. Why should current volunteers have to worry about what will happen if they are not there?

The perfect situation would be to have members on a rota, we understand that this may not be possible for everyone. Maybe you can volunteer an hour or two of your time a week or HVB can store your details in our database, and when needed the admin team can call upon you for events such as: MAMT, Ramadhan, Muharram and other mosque events.

Stanmore offers a variety of volunteering roles to the general public where members can utilize and harness skills and experience from their work and education. HVB gives you the freedom to choose where you would like to volunteer your time.

We welcome anyone who is 16 and over from both ladies and gents to fill out the form below. Make sure to include your skills, interests and availability as this will help us to match you with the right team. Alternatively you may already know what you want to do and we can put you in direct contact with that team. HVB will never turn down someone who would like to volunteer. Sign up as a volunteer: http://hujj.at/hvb

The philosophy of HVB is “Giving back to the community, that has given us so much,” It was how our forefathers achieved in building the centre we currently have, a great embodiment of this spirit was Marhum Mulla Asghar M M Jaffer.

HVB has the full backing and commitment of both Hujjat and SJ at all levels in achieving our goals from this initiative, we hope we can count on having the commitment of our members.

Thank you,
HVB Team
