Notice of CoEJ Elections
News

18.2 Any Constituent Member can be nominated by a Member Jamaat as a candidate for the post of President of CoEJ by sending written nomination to the Electoral Commissioner. Any nomination shall be accompanied by a written communication from the Constituent Member nominated signifying his consent to such nomination. The nomination shall also be accompanied by written confirmation from the Member Jamaat that the nominated person is its Constituent Member and if the nomination is not accompanied by such confirmation then the Electoral Commissioner shall request the Secretary-General to obtain written confirmation from the Member Jamaat that the candidate is its Constituent Member. 

18.3 The Electoral Commissioner shall within a period of seven (7) days after the closing date for the submission of nominations, send to Member Jamaats notification of all nominations received by him and ask all Member Jamaats to arrange the process of voting within their Jamaats on a common date stipulated by him which shall not be less than three (3) weeks from the date of notification by him. Each Member Jamaat shall submit to the Electoral Commissioner within seven (7) days the results of the voting process and the name of the candidate that has attained the highest number of votes. If a Member Jamaat fails to send the results to the Electoral Commissioner by the seven (7) day deadline then those votes shall not be counted. Thereafter, the Electoral Commissioner shall declare the results within ten (10) days. 

18.4 Whichever candidate attracts the highest number of votes in each Member Jamaat shall be attributed the votes according to the formula set out in clause 19.2. 

18.5 However, if the Electoral Commissioner does not receive any written nomination by the closing date he shall inform every Member Jamaat that the election of the President will take place at Conference. 

18.6 Any notice issued by the Electoral Commissioner shall be simultaneously placed on the CoEJ website as well.

As per the above Clause, in my capacity as the Electoral Commissioner, I hereby invite candidates nominations for the post of the President of CoEJ for the Term 2018-2021. Please find the enclosed (download here) Notice which I will be grateful if it is displayed on your noticeboard as well as your website.

The deadline to submit Written Nominations from all Member Jamaats will be Wednesday 27 June 2018 by 23:59 in accordance with Clause 18:1 of the Constitution.
