Resident Aalima Appointment
News

The KSIMC of London is pleased to announce that it has appointed Sister Masuma Jaffer as its Resident Aalima.

For some time, the Executive Committee has been keen to cater more specifically to the needs and requirements of the female members of the community. This appointment is a significant step forward to address those needs and it is hoped that the Resident Aalima will provide a source of knowledge, guidance and support.

Sister Masuma Jaffer is eminently qualified to undertake this position, having completed both her BA and MA in Islamic Studies, as well as further studies in Qum. She is also a qualified Muslim Chaplain and has a diploma in Counselling.

The Resident Aalima will undertake the following main functions:

1. Devise and implement a programme of classes and seminars for all sections of the female community during the daytime and evenings, covering a variety of areas including Aqaid, Akhlaq, Fiqh and Quran Tafseer

2. Hold a weekly surgery where female members can meet the Resident Aalima in person to discuss any questions or issues

3. Answer questions from female members via a dedicated email account

4. Provide counselling and welfare support to female members of the community

In order to ensure that classes and seminars are best suited to the needs of the female members of the community, please can you complete this (very short!) survey to let us know which subject areas you are interested in and when you are able to attend.

The programme of classes and seminars will Inshallah commence in January 2017 and full details will be available on the Jamaat website in due course.

Notice: Open Meeting (Shura) - Property Update
News

Dear Members,

Salaamun Alaykum

To facilitate greater communication between the Jamaat and members, we try and hold a number of Open Meetings (Shura) throughout the year. These are on various themes or targeted at various sections of the community. Insh'Allah these allow members an opportunity to ask the Executive questions about the running of the organisation and allow the EC to share more information with members.

Our next Shura will inshAllah be held on Sunday 22 January 2017 for both Ladies and Gents. This will start at 4:44pm with Salaatul Maghribayn in the Main Hall. The primary topic of discussion will be the C&L Club Property Project. The Property Committee will share the latest developments with the community and further discussion will be had regarding its progress and direction. This session will be an opportunity for the community to hear information that is not possible to share on the website. There will be no live broadcast. As a project of great importance to the community, both men and women are encouraged to attend.
