AYYAM-E-FATIMIYYA – TWO POSSIBLE DATES?

In: Latest News

burning_doorDear Members, Assalamu Alaykum.

As you know, our annual Ayyam-e-Fatimiyya commemorations will commence on 21st April 2012 and run through to 25th April 2012 (1st to the 3rd Jamdi-al-Thani 1433) – details of these programmes to follow shortly. This based on the narration that states that the demise of Lady Fatema Zahra (AS) occurred 95 days after the demise of the Holy Prophet (SAW).

However there is another interpretation which states that the demise of Lady Fatema Zahra (AS) occurred 75 days after the demise of the Holy Prophet (SAW). Therefore if it was 75 days – assuming that Safar, Rabi al-Awwal, Rabi al-Thani, Jamadi Al-Awwal could be 30 days – then the date/s for commemoration would be 13th, 14th or 15th of Jamadi Al-Awwal.

It is for this reason that the KSIMC of London will also be holding an additional commemoration for the demise of Lady Fatema Zahra (AS) this Thursday evening – 05th April 2012 (13th Jamadi Al –Awwal 1433)  – at our centre inshAllah.

As we do not know the exact date, technically speaking, the whole period between 13th, 14th, 15th Jamadi Al-Awwal to 3rd Jamadi al-Thani can be referred to as Ayyam-e-Fatimiyya.

Once again, please take note that the commemoration this Thursday evening – 05th April 2012 (13th Jamadi Al –Awwal 1433) – will be IN ADDITION to the series commemoration that will run from 21st – 25th April 2012 (1st to the 3rd Jamdi-al-Thani 1433).

The above additional commemoration will become a future calendar event moving forward inshAllah.

With Salaams,

Kassam Jaffer
Hon Secretary
For and on Behalf
of KSIMC of London
