Prayer for Peace: Sunday 17 AugustIn: Latest News
You will no doubt be aware of the tragic events which are unfolding in Gaza. At the time of writing this letter, nearly 2,000 civilians have been killed in just over three weeks of violence. The events which we see on the news and hear about on the radio are an affront on basic humanitarian values.
However, Gaza is not the only place around the world where conflict is taking its toll. In Iraq, Syria, Congo, Nigeria, Myanmar and many other countries across the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe, suffering has been going on for far too long.
Our government, which is a leader within the international community, must not remain idle as violence continues unchecked.
Therefore, we hope you will join us on Sunday 17 August as community leaders from across Harrow come together to deplore human suffering wherever it exists and pray for peace. Certainly it would be a sign of the great strength of unity within Harrow, one of the country’s most diverse boroughs.
We would be delighted if you could join us.
